Switch 2 news & Chesnaught raid breakdown
Mega Evolution is back! ...on Pokémon TV
Welcome back to The Victory Road. Please keep your arms and legs inside the cave at all times, watch out for boulders falling through the ceiling and don’t touch the Golbat. Let’s get into the news.
Here’s this week’s rundown:
Rock-Tera Type Chesnaught is coming to S/V 7-star raids
Nintendo Switch hardware and software hit some huge milestones
Catch Pokémon XY for free to Pokémon TV

Chesnaught a joke: next 7-star raid announced
Everyone’s favorite (?) squirrel turtle—no, not Blastoise—is coming soon to Scarlet and Violet’s black crystal Tera Raids. Rock-Tera Type Chesnaught with the Mightiest Mark is available to challenge Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. to Sunday, May 14, 2023, at 4:59 p.m. PDT and then again from Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. to Sunday, May 21, 2023, at 4:59 p.m. PDT.
According to Pokémon streamer @Light_88_ we can turn back to our old pal Annihilape once more to grant us victory. Here’s the recommended buildout:
Item: Shell Bell
Ability: Defiant / Inner Focus
Tera Type: Fight
EVs: 252 Def / 252 Atk
Adamant Nature
Rage Fist
Screech
Drain Punch
Bulk Up / Taunt

Switch 2 news + huge Switch milestones
Nintendo just released its latest financial report, which includes both hardware and software sales numbers. Officially, the Switch itself has sold more than 125 million units, third all-time behind Nintendo DS (154 million) and PlayStation 2 (158 million).
The most impressive number was updated software sales, which surpassed ONE BILLION.
More specifically, 1,036,150,000 units. Man, if I had a Rare Candy for every one of those games sold, I might finally be able to get out of Victory Road and ask Lorelei on a date challenge the Elite Four.
While the software sales are impressive, signs indicate hardware (the Switch itself) is slowing down, prompting many to believe the next gen console isn’t too far away.
“Switch 2” trended on Twitter this week after a source at Nintendo told media outlet Nikkei Asia that “development [on Switch 2] seems to be progressing well.” However, they went on to say that, “a product launch won’t happen before next spring [2024] at the earliest.”

Pokémon XY now streaming on Pokémon TV
Got a hankering to return to Kalos and the good ole days of Mega Evolutions? You can now watch Season 17 for nada on Pokémon TV.
For those who aren’t familiar, Pokémon TV is free via browser, phone app or smart TV app that features a ton of Pokémon episodes from various seasons (including Season 1 and 2 of Indigo League), a revolving door of Pokémon movies and many more shows. My personal favorites are Origins, Generations and Evolutions in the “Specials” section.
