OG Snap is back!

plus, TCG Illustration contest & more

Howdy hey and happy Father's Day to all you dads who did a better job raising their children than most of the absent fathers in mainline Pokémon games. Shoutout to Professor Oak for finally reining Gary in—good work, grandad.

Snap is back, back again

Snap is back, tell a friend! The original Pokémon Snap is coming to the Nintendo Switch Online library on June 24. How about that? You'll have to be subscribed to the primo Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack to get it.

More importantly, this means every N64 game Nintendo announced as part of the service will now be live. Does this mean that GameCube emulations like Pokémon Colosseum or Gale of Darkness are in the works? And where the heck is Pokémon Stadium? I'll be keeping my eyes and ears peeled for news about the next Nintendo Direct.

TCG Illustration Contest 2022 Winners!

Just take a gander at these beautiful scenes. The grand prize winner, REND, received a $5,000 prize plus their illustration will be made into a promo card. Two first-runner ups (a fancy term for second place) each got $3,000 and their cards made into promo cards as well.

Submissions were open to residents of Japan or the United States and judges included such esteemed members as Pokémon Company President, Tsunekazu Ishihara, Creatures Inc. President, Hirokazu Tanaka and Pokémon Company International President, Kenji Okubo

Forget Looney Tunes, we got... PokéTOON

Speaking of things the Pokémon Company gave us that we never knew we needed, there's a brand new animated short that premiered in English to Pokémon TV on June 17.

Pokétoon is a series of animated shorts originally published on the Japanese Pokémon Kids TV YouTube channel. According to the official announcement:

"Each episode tells a different story ranging from silly to heartwarming, and each is presented with a unique art style that makes it stand out from other Pokémon animation. POKÉTOON features eight animated shorts, each telling a different story and showcasing a unique art style. A new episode will debut on Pokémon TV each Friday."

The first is called “Scraggy and Mimikyu” and can be found on the Pokémon TV app or at watch.pokemon.com. (While you're there, don't miss the second episode of Hisuian Snow if you haven't seen it yet.)
