Hitting reset like a shiny hunt

Victory Road is back at it again!

Welcome back to a long overdue email from The Victory Road. I'm sorry you missed us these past few months, but we've been making some changes around this place.

First is your new head writer, me, aka Cooltrainer Ace, aka the toughest trainer in any and every Victory Road, including this one. I'm taking over, so buckle up and make sure you've got some revives, cuz we're going for the One Hit K.O.

I'll be writing to you every Thursday morning now, so keep an eye out in your inbox and get me out of spam faster than a Greninja in Trick Room.

A lot has happened since we last spoke. My boy Ash retired, Scarlet & Violet launched. It's a Pokémon world out there and we're just living in it. Rather than rehashing what we missed, we're just going to catch up on the latest:

Pokémon Stadium & your childhood have returned

Who says you can't buy rent nostalgia? (We'll get to that little pun in a minute). Grab your pizza bites cuz Pokemon Stadium is back and...unfortunately not better than ever.

Available to active subscribers of the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack, Pokemon Stadium is a literal port of the classic N64 game with all the battles and mini games included.

There's just one catch. In the NSO Expansion Pack, you can't transfer any Pokemon from HOME into the game, meaning you're stuck with the rental 'mons and their predetermined movesets and stats.

Understandably, this wasn't well received in the community. And just like frozen pizza bites, maybe Stadium isn't quite as good as we remember because of it.

Introducing the next 7-star Tera Raid: Typhlosion

Raid Alert! Typhlosion with the Mightiest Mark is coming to Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet  from Thursday, April 13, at 5:00 p.m. to Sunday, April 16, 2023, at 4:59 p.m. PDT then again from Thursday, April 20, at 5:00 p.m. to Sunday, April 23, 2023, at 4:59 p.m. PDT.

This is a regular Typhlosion (thought it is interesting that its Tera type matches the secondary typing of its Hisuian counterpart). As of now, with no date for Pokémon HOME compatibility announced, this is the only way to get ole Typhoid Explosion in Scarlet/Violet.

I'll keep you posted once the event is live and there are some strategies for taking this bad boy down.

As a reminder:

For the opportunity to encounter this Pokémon in Tera Raid Battles, you’ll need to have downloaded the latest Poké Portal News. You can do this by selecting Poké Portal in the X menu, then Mystery Gift, then Get Poké Portal News.

To challenge Typhlosion, Trainers will need to either complete the postgame events that follow the main story or join a 7-star Tera Raid Battle hosted by a Trainer who has completed those events. This special Typhlosion can be caught only once per save data. You can still participate in Tera Raid Battles against this Typhlosion if you’ve already caught it to obtain other rewards—including significant amounts of Exp. Candy for leveling up your Pokémon, treasures that can be sold at Pokémon Centers, items for improving your Pokémon’s stats, and Ghost Tera Shards.

Question of the Week: Are you going to pay for an Expansion Pack subscription to check Stadium out? Is the inability to bring your Pokémon into the game going to keep you from playing the port?
